Privacy Policy
We collect what you type into a form and nothing else. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising cookies.
Who we are
LET AFRICA BUILD LAB LIMITED ("LAB", "we", "us") is a company registered in Nigeria, Reg. No 8777525, Tax ID 33479857-0001, based in Lagos, Nigeria. We decide how the information described on this page is used, which makes us the data controller for it.

What we collect
Two things. What you type into a form, listed below, and a short record of the visit itself, described in the next clause.
- Contact form: your name, your email address, which group you belong to, and your message.
- Cohort application: your name, email address, phone number, country, GitHub and portfolio links, what you have shipped, your view of the market you are building for, and your confirmation that you can commit to the programme.
- Partnership enquiry: your organisation, your name, your email address, the kind of partnership, and your description of it.
- Builders Fund enquiry: your name, email address, project name, repository link, and description.
- Careers application: your name, email address, the role you applied for, a portfolio link, and your cover note.
- Newsletter: your email address, and which page you subscribed from.
- Donations: your email address, the amount, the currency, and the payment reference and status that Paystack sends us.
The visit record
Like every web server, ours writes a line each time a page is requested. It records which page, whether it worked, how large it was, how long it took, which browser asked, and which page you came from if you followed a link.
It also records the network the request came from, shortened so that it points at a network of hundreds of addresses rather than at yours. We use that only to work out which country the visit came from, on our own machine, against a local list. Your full address is never written down and nothing about your visit is sent to anybody else.
That record is kept for about 39 days and then overwritten. Before it expires we take counts from it: how many pages were read that day, which ones, from which countries, on what kind of device, and which sites sent people to us. Those counts are kept indefinitely and contain no addresses.
We keep this to see whether the site is working, to find broken links, and to know whether anyone is reading. It is not linked to anything you have typed into a form.
What we do not collect
This site runs no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. It sets no cookies of its own and saves nothing in your browser.
We do not know, and cannot work out, your name, your age or your gender. Nothing in a web request carries them. The only way any website reports such things is by matching visitors against advertising profiles built by following them across other sites, and we do not do that.
Nothing on a normal page is fetched from another company. Even the typefaces are served from this site rather than from Google, so no third party learns that you visited. One exception, and it only happens if you choose it: when you start a donation, Paystack loads its own payment script onto the page and manages its own data while you are paying.
We never see your card details. Paystack takes the payment on its own systems and tells us only that it succeeded, for how much, and under what reference.
We do not sell or rent your information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Why we use it
We use what you give us for the reason you gave it, and for nothing else.
- To reply to you.
- To assess an application and run a fair selection process.
- To administer our programmes and the Builders Fund.
- To send you the newsletter, if you asked for it.
- To keep an accurate record of donations for our accounts.
Our legal basis
For the newsletter, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For applications, taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement. For replying to enquiries, our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us. For donation records, our legal obligation to keep financial records.
Who else sees it
Three companies process information on our instructions.
- Supabase hosts the database that holds form submissions.
- Zoho sends and receives our email.
- Paystack processes card donations.
Links that take you elsewhere
Some things we point you at are not ours. The Builders Fund application form is hosted by BlockSurvey, matched funding runs on Artizen, project proposals are submitted on GitHub, and some meetings are booked through Calendly.
What you type on those sites goes to them, not to us, and is covered by their own privacy policies rather than this one.
Where it is processed
Our suppliers may store and process information on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens we rely on the data protection commitments in those suppliers’ own contracts.
How long we keep it
We do not keep things indefinitely. You can ask us to delete something sooner than this.
- Enquiries and contact messages: 24 months.
- Applications that are not successful: 24 months after that cycle closes.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Donation records: 6 years, because we are required to keep financial records.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send it to you in a portable format, stop using it, or honour the withdrawal of consent you previously gave.
Email hello@letafricabuild.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, equivalent rights under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation apply, and you may complain to your own national regulator.
How we protect it
Everything you submit travels over an encrypted connection. It lands in a database where each table restricts which rows can be read and which columns can be written, so a visitor cannot read other people’s submissions or alter the status of their own. Passwords and keys are held outside the site’s code and are never sent to your browser.
Children
This site is not directed at children. Our programmes are for adults, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and the date at the top of it.
